The purpose of this website is to provide up-to-date developments and analyses<\/strong> of the proposed EU artificial intelligence law called the “AI Act”. This website is maintained by the Future of Life Institute (FLI). FLI is an independent non-profit working to reduce large-scale, extreme risks from transformative technologies. We also aim for the future development and use of these technologies to be beneficial to all. Our work includes grantmaking, educational outreach, and policy engagement. Our EU transparency register number is\u00a0787064543128-10<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n In Europe, FLI has two key priorities: i) promote the beneficial development of artificial intelligence and ii) regulate lethal autonomous weapons.\u00a0<\/span>FLI works closely with leading AI developers to prepare its policy positions, funds research through recurring grant programs and organises global AI conferences.\u00a0FLI created one of the earliest sets of AI governance principles \u2013\u00a0<\/span>the Asilomar AI principles<\/a><\/span>. He is a PhD researcher at KU Leuven, a member of Estonia’s government AI advisory board under the Prime Minister, and co-author of The AI Endgame (Wiley, forthcoming). He also leads the EU AI Act Newsletter, which has over 50,000 subscribers.<\/p>\n Previously, he worked at the World Economic Forum on positive AI economic futures and conducted research for the European Commission on trustworthy AI.
